Why do people still eat McDonalds?

I feel like if McDonalds didn’t exist and a McDonald’s caliber “restaurant” opened up in your city no one would go there and it would be shut down within a year. The food quality is awful , the portions are small and the price is high

Do people just continue to go to McDonalds because that’s what we were all conditioned as kids to do
