Balancing Privacy and Convenience

Do you think people in the US are far more relaxed when sharing their data to apps if this means they will get a very tangible benefit (like saving money) compared to European citizens? To what extent does regulation play a role here, and how does that impact the creation of new startups that will “deal” with vast amounts of user data in the US and the EU?
