Today, at 7:19 p.m. US Eastern time, Senator Cory Booker set the all-time record for a marathon speech protesting many different aspects of the second Trump administration. The speech’s formal status as a filibuster is debatable because, as NPR noted, “that’s not technically what Booker’s speech is, since he is not trying to block a specific bill or nominee”. The senior senator from New Jersey has so far yielded to multiple questions from Senate colleagues over the course of the speech.
